The Punjab government has suspended a senior officer from the Vigilance Bureau due to serious allegations of misconduct and negligence in duty. This decision was communicated through an order issued on December 26.

According to the directive, Lakhbir Singh, a Senior Superintendent of Police (PPS) stationed in Amritsar, has been suspended with immediate effect under Rule 4(1)(k) of the Punjab Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 1970.
Additionally, an official statement revealed that an internal complaint against the officer had been received, prompting the initiation of appropriate disciplinary measures.
The statement further clarified that Lakhbir Singh was suspended for unauthorized interference in matters outside his official jurisdiction. It was noted that disciplinary proceedings have commenced, and a thorough investigation is underway in accordance with standard procedures. During the suspension period, Singh is prohibited from leaving without the permission of the competent authority.
