Punjab FC Begins IFA Shield Journey
Punjab FC is set to launch their IFA Shield 2026-27 journey against Calcutta Customs Club at Barasat Stadium this Sunday. The match, which is part of Group II, will commence at 2:30 PM, marking the start of a new competitive season for the Shers and their inaugural participation in the historic IFA Shield. This match also represents the first official game for the newly appointed head coach, Pavlos Dermitzakis.

Under the guidance of the Greek coach, Punjab FC has assembled a refreshed 24-member squad for the tournament, showcasing a blend of youthful talent, seasoned domestic players, and significant international signings. Despite taking an early lead with a goal from Riki Gharami in the 12th minute on a challenging, muddy pitch due to inclement weather, they were ultimately outmatched by the Red & Gold Brigade.
