Punjab FC Secures Championship Title

In a thrilling final held at the Ramsar Sahib Sports Stadium in Paddi Sura Singh, Garhshankar, Punjab FC successfully defended their title in the AIFF Elite Youth League 2025-26, defeating Zinc Football Academy with a decisive score of 3-0 on Tuesday.

The second half witnessed a remarkable surge from The Cubs, who netted three goals within a span of ten minutes. Karish Soram initiated the scoring in the 69th minute, followed swiftly by Vishal Yadav's goal just a minute later, and Thongram Rishikanta Singh sealed the victory with a strike in the 79th minute.

First Half: A Stalemate

Throughout the first half, Punjab FC maintained control of the game, dominating possession and keeping most of the action in the Zinc Academy's half. Vishal and Sameer both challenged Zinc FA's goalkeeper Smarnik Thapa early on, but he made impressive saves to deny them. In the 30th minute, Thapa showcased his skills again with a remarkable diving save, thwarting a header from Satnam Singh off a corner.

Zinc FA attempted to capitalize on set-pieces to create scoring chances, but their shots were consistently directed at Punjab's goalkeeper, Viswajeet, resulting in a goalless first half.

Second Half: Goals Galore

Despite Zinc FA's strong defensive efforts, the deadlock was finally broken in the 69th minute when captain Vishal Yadav was fouled just outside the penalty area. Karish Soram took advantage of the situation, delivering a stunning left-footed curler that found the top left corner of the net.

Within a minute, Punjab FC doubled their lead. A defensive error from a slipping Zinc Academy player allowed Vishal Yadav to intercept the ball. The Punjab captain skillfully outmaneuvered the advancing goalkeeper and slotted the ball into the net, making it 2-0.

Continuing their offensive push, Punjab FC scored their third goal in the 79th minute. Moirangthem Sayonba Singh provided a perfectly timed assist to Rishikanta, who skillfully dribbled past his defender and finished with a left-footed shot.

Punjab FC maintained their dominance for the remainder of the match, successfully defending their title in front of enthusiastic home supporters.
