Congress Leaders Discuss Party Unity

On July 11, Congress MP Sukjinder Singh Randhawa emphasized that Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding should have attended the meeting himself. This gathering was organized to address internal disagreements within the state unit, with AICC General Secretary Bhupesh Baghel present. Speaking to reporters before the meeting, Randhawa refrained from elaborating but stated that discussing matters before the meeting was pointless. As the state party president, Raja Wadding's presence was essential. Randhawa expressed no grievances, noting his collaborative history with Wadding and suggesting he should recognize who is genuinely upset.

Former Punjab Chief Minister and Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi also declined to disclose the agenda of the meeting, stating they would first converse with everyone inside. He mentioned that he couldn't share any prior information, but the party's stance was already known. Congress MLA Pargat Singh insisted that the party aims to resolve all issues internally, avoiding public discussions about their differences. He remarked that any complaints or disagreements would remain within the family, emphasizing that these are private matters requiring resolution.

Similarly, Congress MLA Parminder Singh Pinky dismissed rumors of factionalism within the party, asserting that there is no infighting or division among Congress members. He claimed such narratives were fabricated by opposition parties, asserting the party's unity. He questioned whether India could be divided from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, drawing a parallel to the party's cohesion. This meeting was convened amid speculations of internal disputes following recent organizational changes within the Punjab Congress.

On July 10, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding indicated that Bhupesh Baghel would hold separate discussions with senior leaders before the joint meeting. He expressed confidence that all leaders would soon unite on a single platform. Earlier that week, Channi, Randhawa, Pargat Singh, and several other senior Congress leaders held a separate meeting, emphasizing their commitment to resolving internal issues through dialogue with the party leadership, despite differing opinions.
