A Vision for a Prosperous Punjab
On Friday, Punjab's Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann urged the people of Punjab to unite in their efforts to restore the state's former glory, aiming to establish a vibrant and prosperous 'Rangla Punjab'.
During the state-level Independence Day celebration at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium, he unfurled the national flag and extended warm wishes to all citizens, particularly Punjabis. Mann paid homage to martyrs like Shaheed Bhagat Singh and others who gave their lives for the cause of freedom, stating that their sacrifices should inspire future generations to embrace patriotism and nationalism. He also highlighted the upgrade of government schools to Schools of Eminence, with Punjab achieving the top rank in the National Achievement Survey. Mann noted that significant numbers of students have excelled in competitive exams, and the government is providing transportation for students, particularly girls, to ensure their access to education.
Addressing Drug Abuse and Corruption
Mann acknowledged the ongoing battle against drug abuse in Punjab, thanking citizens for their support in the government's anti-drug campaign. He criticized previous administrations for enabling drug mafias and announced a crackdown on drug-related activities, including the formation of an Anti-Gangster Task Force.
He expressed pride in the transformation of the anti-drug initiative into a mass movement, with villages declaring themselves drug-free. Mann also mentioned the deployment of an anti-drone system along the Punjab-Pakistan border as a proactive measure.
