Punjab CM Announces Sikh Martyrdom Week to Honor Guru Gobind Singh
Punjab's Tribute to Sikh History
On Saturday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann declared the commencement of the Sikh Martyrdom Week, starting from 6th Poush, to pay homage to Guru Gobind Singh Ji and his family. In a social media post, he noted that on this day, the tenth Guru, the revered Guru Gobind Singh Ji, departed from the fort of Shri Anandgarh with his family. Mughal and hill kingdom commanders approached Guru Sahib, requesting him to leave Anandgarh, swearing that if he did so with his army, they would not harm anyone, and the conflict would cease. Initially skeptical, Guru Sahib refused, but eventually left the fort with his family due to the insistence of the Singh community.
Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai also paid tribute to the young sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, commemorating their sacrifices for faith and religion. He remarked that today we remember the bravery of the tenth Guru's sons, who, at the tender ages of nine and six, sacrificed their lives for their beliefs and stood firm against any pressure. To honor their legacy, Prime Minister Modi declared December 26 as Veer Bal Diwas in 2022, he informed reporters.
Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru, is celebrated for establishing the Khalsa Panth and is revered for his moral values.
