Launch of the Chief Minister Health Scheme

The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Singh Mann, has officially approved the Chief Minister Health Scheme, set to commence in January. This initiative aims to provide free medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh for every family in the state.


During a review meeting of the health department, Mann emphasized that the primary goal of this scheme is to ensure accessible healthcare for all and alleviate the financial burden on citizens.


Key Features of the Health Scheme

According to an official statement, Punjab will become the first state in India to offer cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh for each family. The Chief Minister stated that this significant initiative will guarantee economic security and quality healthcare access for all residents.


The scheme will cover services at listed government and private hospitals in Punjab and Chandigarh, including treatment for major illnesses, intensive care, surgeries, and life-saving procedures.


Comprehensive Coverage and Eligibility

Mann explained that the costs associated with hospitalization, surgeries, ICU care, diagnostics, medications, and pre- and post-treatment will be included under the approved package of the scheme. The treatment limit has been increased from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh.


All residents of Punjab, including government employees and pensioners, will be eligible for this scheme, with no income limit set for participation.
