On Thursday, Punjab's Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed his government's dedication to making Punjab the top-performing state in the country, with the help of its citizens. He emphasized that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration has fulfilled its promises by initiating reforms in education, healthcare, electricity, and social welfare. Speaking at a public gathering in Mukerian, Mann stated that his political mission is focused on improving people's lives rather than merely seeking political power. He criticized the Congress party for being preoccupied with power struggles, suggesting that if they regain control, they might terminate welfare programs.

Support for AAP's Initiatives

Mann urged the public to support AAP based on its track record, asserting that a strong mandate would prevent opportunistic parties from reversing welfare initiatives. He also targeted the Shiromani Akali Dal, accusing its previous administrations of failing to serve Punjab's interests and misleading the populace with false promises.

Focus on Welfare Schemes

Highlighting his government's achievements, Mann noted that over 68,000 youths have secured government jobs without corruption, and 90% of households are receiving free electricity. The closure of toll plazas has resulted in daily savings of approximately ₹70 lakh. Since AAP took office, the use of canal water for irrigation has surged from 22% to over 88%, and recharge points created in canals and rivers have improved groundwater levels in several areas. According to data from the NITI Aayog, Punjab has achieved the top rank in primary and middle school education following investments in school infrastructure, smart classrooms, and teacher training. Mann also mentioned the 'Chief Minister Health Scheme,' which provides health cards to all 6.5 million families in the state, enabling cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh. So far, over 3 million health cards have been issued, with around ₹650 crore spent on treatments under this scheme. Additionally, he highlighted the 'Mawan Dhiyaan Satkar Scheme,' which began providing monthly financial assistance to over 3.2 million women starting July 1. Women who missed registration in the first phase will receive three months' benefits together after registering in August.
