Department Allocation in Puducherry
On August 5, the administration of the Union Territory of Puducherry issued a notification regarding the allocation of departments to the Chief Minister and all five ministers of the AINRC-BJP coalition government. This long-awaited division of responsibilities has been published in the official gazette of Puducherry.
According to the notification, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has been assigned several key departments, including Planning and Finance, Cooperation, Revenue and Excise, Health and Family Welfare, Hindu Religious Institutions, Waqf Board, Local Administration, Transport, Science and Technology, Environment, Information and Publicity, Fire Services, and others not allocated to any other minister.
The cabinet consists of a total of six ministers, including the Chief Minister. Alongside him, there are three ministers from the AINRC and two from the BJP. A. Namassivayam, the leader of the BJP legislative party, has been given charge of Home, Electricity, Education, Law, Animal Husbandry and Welfare, Forest and Wildlife departments.
Malladi Krishna Rao has been assigned the Public Works, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare, Ports, Industry and Commerce, and Labor and Employment departments. Minister P. Rajavelu will oversee the departments of Adi Dravidar Welfare, Arts and Culture, Housing, Information Technology, Economics, and Statistics.
G.N.S. Rajasekharan has been allocated the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Sports and Youth Affairs, District Rural Development Agency, Community Development, Rural Development, and Soldier Welfare departments.
