Community Protests Against Egg Factory

In Hardoi district, Uttar Pradesh, residents of Pipri Narayanpur in the Atrauli police jurisdiction have staged protests due to a fly infestation attributed to a local egg factory. The factory's manager and two police sub-inspectors have filed four separate complaints against 24 identified individuals and several unknown persons in response to the demonstrations. Approximately 12 days ago, locals began an indefinite sit-in to voice their grievances regarding the fly problem caused by the factory.

According to the factory manager, Raghavendra Singh, an incident occurred on August 3 when an unidentified individual entered the factory premises, verbally abused staff, and threatened to shoot. Following protests outside the factory on August 6, police sub-inspectors filed two complaints. Authorities claim that despite attempts to mediate, some protesters continued to chant slogans, obstruct government operations, and threatened on-duty officers.

Sub-inspector Ravi Kumar's report led to the registration of a case against farmer leader Rafiq Lambu and several other demonstrators, while sub-inspector Santosh Kumar also filed a complaint against additional protesters. Furthermore, factory owner Preetinder Walia has lodged a complaint alleging that seven individuals are extorting money from him, threatening vandalism, and demanding protection money. Anshu Awasthi, spokesperson for the state Congress Committee, joined the indefinite protest at Hannekheda Chowk, urging the government to take action on the matter.
