Protesters in Jharkhand Continue Demonstration Over Recruitment Exam Irregularities

Ranchi, August 7 – Demonstrators protesting alleged irregularities in Jharkhand's recruitment exams announced on Friday that they will persist with their movement despite discussions with the state government. The protesters emphasized that they will not cease their demonstrations until all their demands, including the cancellation of the 14th JPSC exam, are met. They also warned that if their requests are not addressed by Sunday, they plan to march to the state assembly on August 10.
A 10-member delegation from the 'JPSC-JSSC Reform Forum' met with the Jharkhand government on Friday evening. Following the meeting, a leader from the forum informed reporters, "The meeting with the Jharkhand government was conducted in a positive atmosphere. The government assured us that our demands would be considered."
However, they decided to maintain their protests until all their demands are fulfilled. Sudivya Kumar, the state's Minister for Higher and Technical Education, stated that the government is sensitive to the concerns of the students. Kumar mentioned to the media, "We have met with the representatives of the protesting students. The government is empathetic to their demands and is willing to consider them thoughtfully."
The results of these discussions are expected to emerge soon. Meanwhile, another group of protesters led by Devendra Mahto claimed they received an invitation for talks from the government. This faction indicated that they have submitted the names of an eight-member delegation for the discussions. The protesters are demanding the cancellation of the 14th JPSC civil service exam and an independent investigation into the alleged irregularities by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or a retired judge from a higher court outside the state.
The ongoing protests against the alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) recruitment exams have now entered their 14th day, with six protesters continuing their hunger strike.
