Protesters Demand Trump’s Intervention for Hostage Release in Gaza

Massive Protests in Israel
In Israel, large crowds have gathered to call for a comprehensive agreement that would conclude the ongoing conflict and facilitate the return of all 50 living and deceased captives held in Gaza. Demonstrators displayed signs urging President Donald Trump to broker another significant deal.
Hostage Release Expected Soon
President Trump recently indicated that an additional 10 hostages from Gaza are likely to be released 'very shortly' as ceasefire discussions continue in Doha between Israeli and Hamas representatives. During a dinner with lawmakers at the White House, Trump stated, 'We have most of the hostages back. Another 10 will be coming soon, and we aim to finalize this quickly.'
Praise for Special Envoy
The President commended his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, for his contributions to the ongoing negotiations. Reports suggest that Israeli and Hamas negotiators have been engaged in talks in Doha since July 6, focusing on a US-supported proposal for a 60-day ceasefire. Trump has consistently hinted at the possibility of a new hostage agreement in recent weeks.
Hamas Issues Warning
A senior spokesperson for Hamas warned that the group would not entertain future temporary truces unless a deal is reached in the current negotiations. Abu Ubaida, spokesperson for Hamas' Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, stated, 'We are closely observing the negotiations and hope they will lead to an agreement that ensures the end of the war against our people, the withdrawal of occupying forces, and relief for our community.'
Calls for Action from Trump
Ruby Chen, father of Itay Chen, whose remains are held in Gaza, expressed that the framework for a deal exists but requires a decisive push from President Trump. He urged Trump to leverage his influence, stating, 'Show the world that freedom matters.' Nadav Rudaeff, whose father remains in Gaza, thanked Trump for his efforts and requested that he pressure all parties to reach an agreement.
CAIR Condemns Inaction
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) criticized the global community for its inaction as Gaza faces starvation. They stated, 'The international community, along with our own government, has not only tolerated but effectively normalized the daily massacre of Palestinian civilians by the far-right government of indicted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu.' CAIR demanded immediate cessation of US support for Israel's actions, emphasizing that silence equates to complicity in genocide.
Clashes in Syria Cease
In related news, clashes in southern Syria have reportedly stopped following the government's deployment of forces in the Suwayda governorate to address recent sectarian violence. Hamas had previously taken over 250 hostages during its October 7, 2023, attack, which resulted in the deaths of over 1,200 individuals in southern Israel. Currently, reports indicate that 50 hostages remain in Gaza, with 20 believed to be alive. Ongoing diplomatic efforts aim to end hostilities and ensure the safe return of the remaining captives.
