Protest by Sanitation Workers Over Delayed Payments Continues in Charkhi Dadri
Sanitation Workers Demand Immediate Action from Government
- Government Warned of Road Blockade if Demands Are Not Met
(Charkhi Dadri News) Badhra. Sanitation workers in the region have continued their indefinite protest outside the BDPO office for the sixth consecutive day, demanding overdue payments. The protesting workers have issued a stern warning to the government, stating that their neglect could have serious repercussions. They expressed their determination to fight for their rights, indicating that if their grievances are not addressed soon, they will block the main revolutionary square.
Repeated Protests Have Become a Norm for Sanitation Workers
During the protest led by former president of the sanitation workers' union, Suresh Jewli, it was highlighted that employees at the BDPO office have been sending rural sanitation workers on a wild goose chase for their payments. Despite their efforts, timely compensation remains elusive, making it increasingly difficult for them to manage their household expenses. With the upcoming festivals of Diwali and Holi, they lamented that their celebrations would be overshadowed by financial strain. The BJP government, they claim, does not uphold democratic values and continues to make empty promises while imposing unfavorable decisions on sanitation workers. This has forced them to repeatedly take to the streets in protest.
Rural Sanitation Workers Have Been Serving for 18 Years
Sanjay Jeetpura, a former union leader, stated that workers have not received their PF benefits for a year and have been deprived of ESI benefits for two and a half years. Faced with these challenges, they have resorted to protests. He warned that if their payments are not resolved soon, they will continue their indefinite strike and cease sanitation work in villages. He emphasized that these rural sanitation workers have been diligently serving their communities for 18 years but still struggle to receive timely payments, leading to dire financial situations.
Officials had previously failed to disburse payments during Diwali, prompting protests at that time as well. Now, with Holi approaching, the rural sanitation workers have not received their payments for the last two months, necessitating the current protest outside the BDPO office. The workers vocally expressed their discontent against the government. Among those present were employees Sanjay Jeetpura, Ramesh, Mandeep, Mahendra, Rajbir, Jitendra, Pawan, Sharmila, Surajmukhi, Rajbala, Sunita, Roshni, Rajbala, Raghubir, and Manphool.
