Empowering Students for Safer Roads

Rampur Bushahr: India holds the unfortunate title of having the highest number of road accident deaths worldwide. To combat this issue, Dr. Suresh Sharma, Vice Chairperson of the Traffic and Transport Wing at Brahma Kumaris Headquarters in Mount Abu, emphasized the importance of students becoming Safety Messengers during a workshop at Government Senior Secondary School. He highlighted that diligence and compliance with traffic regulations are crucial for achieving success.

Dr. Sharma encouraged students to foster a positive mindset and eliminate negativity to enhance their focus and academic performance. He shared findings from his Ph.D. research, indicating that more than 80% of students experienced benefits from Rajyoga meditation, which aids in promoting peace, concentration, and spiritual development—key elements for success.

Referencing the journey of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, he illustrated how resilience and determination can lead to success, even in the face of challenges. He reiterated that ongoing effort and awareness of road safety are essential for reaching one’s life aspirations.

Dr. Sharma urged students to adhere to traffic laws consistently and motivate their peers to do the same. He called upon them to act as Safety Messengers, contributing to a safer environment in India and Himachal Pradesh by advocating responsible driving practices among their families and friends.

At the conclusion of the workshop, both students and teachers pledged to abide by traffic rules. Principal Yashpal Thakur encouraged immediate implementation of Dr. Sharma’s recommendations and expressed gratitude for the valuable insights shared regarding safety and success.

BK Krishna, the head of the Brahma Kumaris service center in Rampur, elaborated on the significance of the ‘Om Shanti’ mantra, offering blessings for success. Dr. Sharma also distributed road safety materials to the principal and extended an invitation for a visit to Mount Abu.

A similar workshop was held at Nogli Senior Secondary School, where Dr. Sharma instructed students on safe living practices and led them in a pledge to adhere to traffic regulations. Principal Pushpanand expressed appreciation to Dr. Sharma and the Brahma Kumaris team, receiving safety literature and spiritual gifts.
