Promoting Peace and Harmony in Bodoland: Pramod Boro's Call to Action

Bodoland's Path to Peace
Kokrajhar, July 4: Pramod Boro, the Chief Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), emphasized the necessity of collaborative efforts to maintain peace and harmony in the Bodoland area during a recent event.
Speaking at a Beneficiary Meet and Socio-Economic Awareness Programme held at the Bhumki Part-II playground in the Salakati BTC constituency, Boro reflected on the advancements made since the 2020 Bodo Peace Accord.
He stated, “In the past, our region faced numerous violent incidents. However, following the 2020 Accord, we have witnessed a return to peace. It is crucial that we do not take this peace for granted. To ensure its longevity, we must unite our efforts.”
The event highlighted the positive effects of various welfare initiatives and is part of a broader campaign aimed at reaching all 40 constituencies within the BTC.
As the BTC elections approach, Boro urged all political factions to uphold democratic principles and foster a peaceful environment.
He remarked, “As we move towards the upcoming BTC elections, the residents of BTR desire peace over violence. I urge all political parties to engage in a peaceful and democratic contest.”
Boro also warned against any attempts to disturb the existing tranquility under the guise of election campaigning.
He added, “After years of struggle, we have finally achieved peace. Sadly, even some senior leaders do not fully grasp the significance of this peace, leading to suffering among the common populace. Anyone wishing to run for election is welcome, but violence should not be part of the campaign.”
The gathering saw the presence of notable figures, including Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary, MLA Lawrence Islary, MCLA Madhav Chetry, and former BTC Deputy Chief Kampa Borgoyari.
