The Pro Wrestling League (PWL), recognized as India's leading franchise-based wrestling league and endorsed by the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), has successfully wrapped up its fifth season. This iteration has solidified its reputation as a premier sporting event in India. The league not only showcased top-tier wrestling but also attracted significant attention from political figures, Bollywood stars, athletes, and influential digital personalities, highlighting its increasing cultural significance.


Haryana Thunders Claim the Title

The season concluded with Haryana Thunders emerging as the champions of PWL 2026, earning the prestigious trophy along with a prize of ₹1.5 crore. The Delhi Dangal Warriors, who finished as runners-up, received ₹75 lakh after a fiercely contested final that showcased the league's competitive depth and international standards.


Celebrating Individual Achievements

Individual performances were a highlight of the season. Turan Bayramov from Delhi Dangal Warriors was honored as the Player of the Tournament, receiving ₹2.5 lakh for his remarkable unbeaten streak, winning all 7 matches in the men's 57 kg category. Additionally, Chandermohan from Punjab Royals was recognized as the tournament's highest point scorer.


Political and Celebrity Engagement

The league attracted notable political figures, including Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, who attended the final, demonstrating institutional support for the growth of professional wrestling. Other prominent leaders such as Mahesh Sharma, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, Pankaj Singh, and Dushyant Chautala were also present, indicating PWL's strong connection with India's sports and governance sectors.


Bollywood's influence was evident throughout the season, with veteran actress and MP Hema Malini and Esha Deol attending, enhancing PWL's cultural relevance. High-profile appearances from celebrities like Nora Fatehi, Sara Ali Khan, Sonam Bajwa, Shehnaaz Gill, and Zoya Afroz during the semi-finals and finals further boosted fan engagement both in the arena and online.


The presence of Indian cricketers Shreyas Iyer and Aakash Chopra at the final highlighted PWL's growing recognition across various sports. Digital influencers, particularly Elvish Yadav, were also regular attendees, attracting significant youth interest and online engagement.

PWL 2026: A New Era Begins

PWL 2026 marked the league's return after a seven-year break, featuring six franchises: Delhi Dangal Warriors, Haryana Thunders, Tiigers of Mumbai Dangals, Punjab Royals, Maharashtra Kesari, and UP Dominators. A total of 63 wrestlers from 16 countries participated in various weight categories, including Olympic medalists and world champions, delivering an exciting format with nine bouts per match.


As the season wraps up, Pro Wrestling League 2026 stands as a testament to the rising prominence of Indian wrestling, where elite sports, political engagement, celebrity involvement, and digital influence converged to create a significant chapter in the league's history.
