Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Stands Firm on Parliamentary Remarks

On July 29, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reiterated her stance against Union Education Minister Prahlad Joshi, dismissing allegations that her comments in the Lok Sabha were unparliamentary. Speaking to reporters, she asserted that her statements were based on verified facts and highlighted a systemic attitude towards women. Vadra emphasized that threats of parliamentary action or disciplinary measures would not deter her from speaking the truth.

She referenced past incidents, including the BJP's association with an individual linked to the 2009 Mangalore pub attack, holding Prahlad Joshi accountable for this connection.

Vadra questioned the basis of the claims of her comments being unparliamentary, stating, 'What was unparliamentary about it? It was merely the truth. If they wish to punish me for speaking the truth, so be it; I will continue to speak the truth.' She pointed out that videos of the incidents exist and stressed that this is not an isolated case, questioning who brought the individual involved in the Mangalore pub attack into the BJP fold.

Previously, Vadra had also criticized the newly appointed Education Minister Prahlad Joshi regarding the Bilkis Bano case and raised concerns about irregularities in examinations and accountability issues within the government. Her remarks sparked a heated debate in the Lok Sabha, with Minister Joshi and Kiren Rijiju accusing her of personal attacks and spreading misinformation against the Education Minister.

In a related development, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi demanded immediate clarification from Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the use of pellet guns against protesters, alleging that both the Home Minister and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were evading parliamentary accountability on this matter.
