Priyanka Gandhi Criticizes Cancellation of Student Event in Prayagraj
Cancellation of 'Students' Voice' Event Sparks Controversy
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi has expressed her disapproval regarding the withdrawal of venue approval for the 'Students' Voice' event in Prayagraj. She questioned the administration's apprehensions about the event, stating she is puzzled by their fears. The approval for the event, which was scheduled for August 8 at K.P. Ground, was rescinded by the Kayastha Pathshala Trust, which is associated with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
The management of K.P. College cited academic concerns and a directive from the Allahabad High Court as reasons for retracting the permission to use their sports ground. In a letter addressed to the president of the Prayagraj City Congress Committee, the acting president of Kayastha Pathshala, Chaudhary Jitendra Nath Singh, explained that this decision was made after discussions with the college principal and in light of the High Court's order dated August 14, 2025, which emphasized that there should be no disruption to students' educational activities.
The letter further stated that the principal informed them about the High Court's ruling, which mandated that students' academic activities must not be hindered. The management expressed concerns that holding the event on the scheduled date could inconvenience students from two schools. They also raised worries about potential damage to the outdoor sports ground due to rain, which could complicate repairs and delay its usage.
Consequently, the letter suggested that the event should be rescheduled to avoid interfering with school activities. In light of the High Court's decision and current circumstances, they requested that the event be held during school holidays or after the rainy season. Following the cancellation, Congress leader Pawan Khera remarked that Rahul Gandhi's proposed 'Students' Voice' event would proceed as planned, accusing the BJP of attempting to obstruct it out of fear of the opposition leader.
