Priyanka Gandhi Criticizes BJP's Welcome for Resigned Education Minister
Congress Leader's Strong Remarks
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, a prominent Congress leader, expressed her dismay over the reception given to former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan by BJP MPs immediately after his resignation. This occurred following widespread protests from students, which led to his departure from the position. Gandhi's comments came as some party members welcomed Pradhan in the Parliament complex, donning traditional caps and shawls while chanting slogans in his favor.
In response to inquiries about the reception, Priyanka Gandhi questioned whether it was not embarrassing. She highlighted the circumstances surrounding Pradhan's resignation, emphasizing that he was treated like a celebrity despite the serious issues at hand. She also criticized the government's treatment of students, asserting that trust in the Modi administration is lacking, as students continue to face harassment. Gandhi pointed out disturbing images circulating on social media that depicted women with various accusations against them, questioning whether the government intends to engage in dialogue to resolve these issues or if it prefers to suppress students further.
Rahul Gandhi Joins the Critique
Rahul Gandhi, another key figure in Congress, also condemned the welcome extended to Pradhan. In a post on social media, he labeled Pradhan as a symbol of corruption and a failed education system in India, which has resulted in the loss of 26 children's lives and forced countless youth to protest. He asserted that Pradhan resigned not out of moral conviction but due to fear of the anger from the youth.
