Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled for a two-day visit to Assam, starting January 17. He will witness a grand performance of the Bodo folk dance 'Bagurumba' and lay the foundation for the Kaziranga elevated corridor. Additionally, he will virtually flag off two new train services and address a public meeting in Kaliabor. This visit follows his recent trip in December, where he inaugurated the new terminal at Guwahati International Airport and laid the groundwork for a significant ammonia-urea plant. Modi's engagements are expected to set the stage for the upcoming Assam assembly elections in 2026.

Prime Minister Modi's Two-Day Assam Visit


Guwahati, January 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Assam for two days starting Saturday, marking his second trip to the state within a month.


Upon his arrival on the evening of January 17, the Prime Minister will attend a spectacular performance of the Bodo folk dance 'Bagurumba,' featuring 10,000 dancers at the Arjun Bhogeswar Barua Sports Stadium, as confirmed by an official.


The following day, Modi will travel to Kaliabor to lay the foundation stone for the Kaziranga elevated corridor, a project valued at Rs 6,957 crore.


Additionally, he is anticipated to virtually inaugurate two Amrit Bharat Express trains: one from Dibrugarh to Gomti Nagar (Lucknow) and another from Kamakhya to Rohtak.


Before concluding his visit, the Prime Minister will address a public gathering in Kaliabor.


During his previous visit to Assam from December 20, Modi inaugurated the new terminal at Guwahati International Airport and unveiled a statue of Gopinath Bardaloi, the state's first Chief Minister, after whom the airport is named.


He also laid the groundwork for a brownfield ammonia-urea plant in Dibrugarh, valued at Rs 10,601 crore.


In his last trip, Modi held public meetings in Guwahati and Namrup, where he outlined his vision for the upcoming 2026 Assam assembly elections.
