Prime Minister's Absence at Sikkim's Golden Jubilee Celebration

Due to adverse weather conditions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not be able to attend the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of Sikkim's establishment in Gangtok on Thursday, as confirmed by officials.

Instead, he will address the people of Sikkim via video conference from Bagdogra in West Bengal.

Officials noted that the planned visit of Prime Minister Modi to the Paljor Stadium in Gangtok for the golden jubilee event has been canceled because of the inclement weather.

During this event, the Prime Minister was set to unveil a commemorative coin, a souvenir, and a postage stamp to celebrate Sikkim's half-century as a state.

Additionally, he was scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation for several projects, including a 500-bed district hospital in Namchi, costing over ₹750 crores, a passenger ropeway in Pelling, and a statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the Atal Amrit Udyan in Gangtok.
