Bengaluru, August 1 - On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Vivek Memorial at the Sri Ramakrishna Ashram in Mysuru, as confirmed by officials. The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to commence at 3:30 PM.

Following the inauguration, the Prime Minister will address a gathering at the event. An official statement noted that the Vivek Memorial commemorates Swami Vivekananda's historic visit to Mysuru during his tour of India in November 1892. During his stay in Mysuru, Vivekananda delivered numerous discourses, engaged with scholars and devotees, and received patronage from the then Maharaja Chamarajendra Wadiyar X.

Thanks to Wadiyar's support, Vivekananda was able to participate in the Parliament of Religions held in Chicago in 1893. The Vivek Memorial, constructed at the historic Niranjan Math, spans over 81,000 square feet and includes a main building along with an annex block. According to the statement, the memorial features a 4D experience center, an exhibition hall, an amphitheater with a capacity for approximately 700 people, classrooms, conference rooms, a library, a reading room, and spaces for meditation and yoga.

Additionally, special facilities have been made available for students preparing for competitive exams. The amphitheater is designed as an open circular or oval space with a stage in the center and tiered seating for the audience surrounding it. Officials stated that this cultural youth center is dedicated to the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda.

The center aims to provide a platform for youth to receive value-based education, develop leadership skills, and enhance personal growth.
