Preparations for the Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony

On December 14, Sarbananda Sonowal, the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, visited the Namrup fertilizer complex in Dibrugarh district to review the ground preparations ahead of Prime Minister Modi's visit. Modi will lay the foundation stone for the fourth fertilizer plant in Namrup. This new brownfield ammonia-urea complex will be established with an investment exceeding ₹10,000 crores at the existing site of Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL). This initiative is viewed as a significant step towards strengthening Assam's industrial base and improving fertilizer availability in northeastern and eastern India.

Logistics and Security Assessments

During his site visit, Sonowal evaluated the logistics arrangements, security measures, and overall readiness for the Prime Minister's program. He also reviewed the progress of preliminary works and coordinated with officials to ensure that all preparations for the foundation stone laying ceremony are completed smoothly and on time. The new brownfield ammonia-urea complex is anticipated to play a crucial role in bolstering Assam's industrial framework and enhancing fertilizer accessibility in the region.
