Jaipur, April 20: On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Rajasthan, as announced by government officials on Monday. This visit is particularly significant for the nation’s energy and industrial sectors.
During his stay, the Prime Minister will officially inaugurate India's first greenfield integrated Refinery-cum-Petrochemical Complex located in Pachpadra, Balotra. The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for approximately 11:30 a.m., followed by a public address.
This refinery-cum-petrochemical facility marks a pivotal milestone in India's pursuit of energy independence and industrial advancement. It has been developed through a collaboration between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and the Rajasthan government, with an impressive investment surpassing Rs 79,450 crore.
With a production capacity of 9 Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum (MMTPA), this complex is among the most significant greenfield initiatives in the sector. It features a cutting-edge design that combines both refining and petrochemical manufacturing.
The facility includes a petrochemical production capacity of 2.4 MMTPA, allowing for the effective transformation of crude oil into high-value products. The refinery is distinguished by a high Nelson Complexity Index of 17.0, showcasing its sophisticated configuration and versatility in processing various crude oil types.
Moreover, the project achieves petrochemical yields exceeding 26 percent, aligning with international benchmarks for efficiency and sustainability.
Beyond its technical prowess, this initiative is anticipated to have extensive economic and strategic implications.
It is expected to significantly enhance India’s energy security by decreasing reliance on imports and bolstering domestic production capabilities.
Additionally, it will promote self-sufficiency in petrochemicals, benefiting industries dependent on plastics and chemical products. The refinery is also expected to serve as a cornerstone for a Petrochemical and Plastic Park in the area, stimulating downstream industries and related sectors.
Furthermore, the project is projected to create numerous job opportunities, playing a vital role in the socio-economic development of the region and reshaping the local industrial landscape.
