Inauguration of the Commonwealth Speakers Conference
On January 15, 2026, at 10:30 AM, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially open the 28th Commonwealth Speakers and Presiding Officers Conference (CSPoC) at the Central Hall of the Constitution House in New Delhi. During this event, the Prime Minister will also deliver a speech addressing the attendees.
The conference will be chaired by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and will see participation from 42 Commonwealth nations along with 61 speakers and presiding officers from various semi-autonomous parliaments around the globe.

This conference aims to discuss a wide array of contemporary parliamentary issues. Topics will include the role of speakers and presiding officers in maintaining robust democratic institutions, the application of artificial intelligence in parliamentary operations, the impact of social media on lawmakers, innovative strategies to enhance public understanding of parliament, and citizen engagement beyond voting.
Organized by the Indian Parliament, the CSPoC will take place from January 14 to 16 and is expected to be the largest conference in terms of participation to date.

During a press conference on Monday, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who is also the conference chair, stated that the discussions will revolve around shared parliamentary values, democratic governance, and institutional collaboration. He emphasized that this conference will witness the highest level of participation ever for the Commonwealth Speakers and Presiding Officers Conference.
Birla noted that all arrangements related to the conference have been conducted online, eliminating the need for paper usage.
Technological Innovations for the Conference
To facilitate coordination, management, and information dissemination for the conference, a dedicated app has been developed. Additionally, a web-based event management system has been created. In response to inquiries, he confirmed that there will be no participation from Pakistan, and currently, there is no speaker in Bangladesh due to upcoming general elections next month.
