Prime Minister's Meeting with Chief Ministers

Sources revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to hold discussions with the Chief Ministers of all states and Union Territories on Friday. The aim is to review the nation's preparedness and strategies as the conflict enters its fourth week. The meeting will emphasize coordination in efforts under the spirit of 'Team India'. However, Chief Ministers from states facing upcoming assembly elections will not participate due to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). A separate meeting for the Chief Secretaries of these election-bound states will be organized shortly.

Upcoming Elections and Voting Schedule

It is noteworthy that elections are scheduled in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, and the Union Territory of Puducherry. Voting in Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry will take place on April 9, while Tamil Nadu will hold its elections on April 23. West Bengal will conduct voting in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with the counting of votes set for May 4. Discussions may also cover contingency plans and maintaining internal stability amid global uncertainties.

Separate Discussions for Election States

Due to the Model Code of Conduct, states currently undergoing elections will not be part of the discussions. To ensure continuity in planning and response mechanisms, separate conversations will be held with their Chief Secretaries through the Cabinet Secretariat.
