Tashkent, Aug 30: On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a yoga session organized by the Yoga Federation of Uzbekistan in Tashkent.


According to a post from the Ministry of External Affairs, "Yoga has significant popularity in Uzbekistan, fostering connections between people and cultures, and enhancing the ties between India and Uzbekistan."


The ministry also released images of Modi engaging with participants and observing the yoga activities.


Modi's visit to Uzbekistan, which took place from August 29 to 30, was at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, marking his fourth trip to the nation.


Upon his arrival in Tashkent on Saturday, Modi was warmly greeted by Mirziyoyev at the airport.


Following his arrival, he visited Yangi Uzbekistan Park and laid a wreath at the Independence Monument alongside the Uzbek president.


Additionally, Modi interacted with the Indian community at a hotel in Tashkent, where he enjoyed performances of Kathak and Andijan Polka by the diaspora, as well as a dance by Uzbek children to the Indian song "Ude Jab Jab Zulfe Teri."


He also witnessed a fusion performance combining tabla with traditional Uzbek instruments, Doira and Chang.


Expressing his sentiments on social media, Modi stated, "I am overwhelmed by the warmth and affection of the Indian community in Tashkent. Our diaspora serves as a living bridge between India and Uzbekistan, reinforcing the friendship between our countries."


The Prime Minister is set to engage in delegation-level discussions with Mirziyoyev to enhance the strategic partnership between India and Uzbekistan.


The agenda for their talks will likely include topics such as trade and investment, defense, digital connectivity, energy, education, and cultural exchanges.


This visit marks the first part of Modi's two-nation tour, which will also take him to Kyrgyzstan from August 31 to September 1 for the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit.
