Ganga Expressway: A Major Infrastructure Milestone

In a significant boost to Uttar Pradesh's infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially inaugurated the Ganga Expressway, stretching 594 kilometers. This monumental project will greatly simplify and expedite travel from Meerut to Prayagraj. After a long wait, the expressway is now operational, with vehicles allowed to use it starting at midnight, generating excitement among travelers. This expressway is set to not only enhance travel convenience but also stimulate economic growth in the region.

Connecting Key Districts

The Ganga Expressway begins at Bijouli village in Meerut and extends to Judapur Dandu in Prayagraj. It directly links western Uttar Pradesh with the eastern part of the state. A total of 12 districts, including Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Raebareli, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj, will benefit from this expressway. Multiple entry and exit points have been established to facilitate easy connectivity for travelers from nearby cities, with interchanges located near major urban areas to allow direct access to the expressway without lengthy detours.

Understanding Toll Rates

Toll fees for traveling on the Ganga Expressway have been set. For cars, jeeps, and light vehicles, the charge is approximately ₹2.55 per kilometer. The total toll from Meerut to Prayagraj will be around ₹1515, with higher rates applicable for heavy vehicles.

Speed Limits on the Expressway

Designed for high-speed travel, the Ganga Expressway has a maximum speed limit of 120 km/h for cars. Previously, the journey from Meerut to Prayagraj took about 10 to 12 hours, but with the new expressway, this time will be reduced to just 6 to 7 hours.

High-Tech Features and Safety Measures

Equipped with modern amenities, the expressway includes CCTV cameras, patrolling vehicles, ambulances, and trauma centers. Additionally, a 3.5-kilometer-long airstrip has been constructed near Shahjahanpur for emergency landings by Air Force aircraft. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, this expressway is expected to significantly benefit the state's industrial and commercial sectors, reducing travel time and creating new job and investment opportunities.
