Dibrugarh/Jorhat, Apr 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced his Wednesday by visiting a tea garden in Dibrugarh, where he engaged with female workers and emphasized the global importance of Assamese tea.
On social media platform X, he referred to tea as the "soul of Assam," noting its international acclaim.
Describing the visit as a "memorable experience," PM Modi interacted with the workers, acknowledging their vital role in the tea sector.
He expressed pride in the dedication of the tea garden families, stating, "Their hard work and perseverance have elevated Assam’s stature."
In his posts, he shared moments from the visit, including the tea leaf plucking and conversations about their culture, along with a selfie.
This visit is part of PM Modi's campaign efforts in Assam, where he plans to hold several public rallies leading up to the Assembly elections.
After attending two rallies on Wednesday, he will head back to Delhi.
Additionally, he is set to participate in a significant election rally in Moran, Dibrugarh, on April 6, supporting BJP alliance candidates in various constituencies.
His interaction with tea garden workers underscores his personal connection to the tea industry.
Assam is a major tea-producing area globally, significantly contributing to India's tea exports. The industry employs millions, with women making up a substantial part of the workforce in regions like Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, and Jorhat.
