The Bintang Adipurna, or "Medal of Honour", is awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to the unity and prosperity of Indonesia.
This honor was bestowed upon Modi during his discussions with President Subianto, marking the first stop of his three-nation tour, which also includes Australia and New Zealand.
"Thank you for the warm welcome at the Istana Merdeka!" Modi tweeted after the ceremonial reception. He also signed the visitors' book during his meeting with President Subianto.
According to External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, this visit is a crucial step in enhancing the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

"The visit marks a significant step in advancing the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, opening new avenues for cooperation across priority sectors while reinforcing the deep trust, shared values and enduring friendship that bind the two countries," he added.
Before leaving New Delhi, Modi mentioned that this visit would further bolster India's engagement with the Indo-Pacific region through its Act East Policy and MAHASAGAR Vision.
This trip is Modi's first bilateral visit to Indonesia since the elevation of ties between the two nations and follows President Prabowo Subianto's State visit to India as the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations in January 2025.
