In light of the devastating flood crisis in Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday to discuss the current situation and the ongoing relief and rescue operations. The Prime Minister assured that the central government would provide all possible assistance to the state.

Sarma also informed the Prime Minister about the measures being taken by the state government to assist every affected family.

Current Flood Situation in Assam

Meanwhile, the flood situation in Assam remained critical on Saturday, although water levels began to recede in some areas. So far, the floods have claimed the lives of 61 individuals, with over 705,000 people affected across nine districts.
