Compensation for Fire Victims in Palam

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared a compensation of ₹2 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic fire at a residential building in Palam. Expressing his heartfelt condolences regarding this unfortunate incident, he also announced that injured individuals would receive ₹50,000 from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund. The Prime Minister's Office shared on social media that the fire incident in Palam, Delhi, is deeply saddening. He extended his sympathies to those who have lost loved ones and wished for the swift recovery of the injured. The compensation of ₹2 lakh will be provided to the families of the deceased, while the injured will receive ₹50,000.


Congress Leaders Express Condolences

In response to the incident, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi expressed her sorrow and wished for the quick recovery of the injured. She urged party members to assist the victims, stating that the news of multiple fatalities in the Palam fire is extremely tragic. She prayed for peace for the departed souls and extended her deepest sympathies to the grieving families. Additionally, she called upon Congress leaders and workers to provide as much help as possible to those affected. The fire reportedly broke out due to a short circuit in a residential building located in the Sadh Nagar area of Palam during the early hours. Fire services, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), police, and other agencies are actively engaged in rescue operations.


Casualty and Rescue Efforts

According to fire officials, the death toll has risen to nine, with three individuals reported injured so far. Among the deceased are eight individuals: Pravesh (33), Kamal (39), Ashu (35), Lado (70), Himanshi (22), and three minor girls aged 15, 6, and 3, who were pronounced dead at Manipal Hospital. Additionally, a woman named Deepika (28) was declared dead at IGI Hospital, where two others, Anil (32) and a 2-year-old girl, are currently receiving treatment. Another victim, Sachin (29), is hospitalized at Safdarjung Hospital with approximately 25% burns. Speaking to the media, NDRF Sub-Inspector Vicky Ranga mentioned that the rescue operation is challenging due to the extensive damage caused by the fire inside the building.
