Promoting Indian AI Startups


New Delhi, Jan 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has highlighted the increasing significance of Indian artificial intelligence startups on the global stage, encouraging them to aspire for leadership while focusing on ethical, transparent, and privacy-centric AI solutions.


During a roundtable discussion with prominent Indian AI startups in anticipation of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Modi emphasized that the trust the world places in India is its greatest asset.


He pointed out that Indian AI models should be ethical, unbiased, and transparent, firmly grounded in data privacy principles, while also showcasing India's diversity through local content and regional languages.


Modi acknowledged the crucial role of startups, stating that AI entrepreneurs are vital to shaping India's future and that the nation has a unique chance to influence the global AI narrative by fostering affordable, inclusive, and innovative solutions.


He urged startups to create AI solutions that are characteristically Indian yet hold global relevance, aligning with the vision of 'Made in India, made for the world.'


Twelve Indian AI startups, selected for the 'AI for All: Global Impact Challenge,' participated in the dialogue, presenting innovations across various fields.


These innovations include Indian language foundation models, multilingual large language models, speech-to-text and text-to-video tools, generative AI for 3D content in e-commerce and marketing, advanced engineering simulations, material research, analytics-driven decision-making, and healthcare diagnostics.


The Prime Minister underscored the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on society and remarked that India's hosting of the upcoming India AI Impact Summit would further solidify the country's position in the global technology landscape.


Startup leaders at the roundtable expressed their appreciation for the government's strong initiative to establish a robust AI ecosystem, noting that the focus of AI innovation and deployment is increasingly gravitating towards India.


They acknowledged that the country now provides a conducive environment for AI development, placing Indian startups in the global limelight.


The meeting included CEOs and senior representatives from notable AI startups such as Avataar, BharatGen, Fractal, Gan, Genloop, Gnani, Intellihealth, Sarvam, Shodh AI, Soket AI, Tech Mahindra, and Zenteiq.


Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Jitin Prasada were also present at the meeting.
