The Press Club Mandi marked its 25th anniversary with a vibrant celebration at its building in Mangwai, commemorating its Silver Jubilee. The event gathered senior journalists, founding members, and numerous club members, who reflected on the club's history, accomplishments, and future direction.


The festivities commenced with President Subhash Thakur honoring senior members with floral tributes, recognizing their significant contributions to the club's development over the years. This was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony, symbolizing 25 years of dedication and unity in journalism.


Founding members D.P. Gupta and Khem Chand Shastri shared their experiences, detailing the club's early challenges, growth trajectory, and significant milestones. They emphasized the Press Club's transformation into a respected platform for journalists in the region, dedicated to upholding professional standards and fostering unity among media professionals.


Treasurer Bhagat Singh Guleria also spoke, highlighting the club's consistent progress and the importance of teamwork in achieving its objectives. In recognition of his leadership, the executive committee presented President Subhash Thakur with a traditional cap and muffler.


Senior journalist Radha Krishan Verma from Pandoh contributed to the celebration by gifting a dinner set to the club, symbolizing camaraderie within the journalism community.


A detailed report on the club's activities for the year 2025–26 was shared during the event. Under President Subhash Thakur's guidance, the Press Club has made significant strides in enhancing its infrastructure and outreach. A proposal for a ₹22 lakh budget was submitted to the Chief Minister for the development of the Press Club building, with an estimate of ₹11 lakh already prepared and sent for approval through the Public Works Department and the District Public Relations Office.


The club has also made notable advancements in infrastructure improvements. An LED television has been installed to better serve members, and the tendering process for a boundary wall has begun. Additionally, ₹3,70,900, which was at risk of lapsing in March 2025, has been successfully restored, and construction of a safety wall has commenced, marking a significant step in enhancing the Press Club's facilities.


Beyond its journalistic endeavors, the Press Club Mandi has actively engaged in social initiatives. During emergencies, the club organized community service activities such as food distribution, medical health camps, and cricket camps, demonstrating its commitment to social responsibility and community welfare.


The club has also provided support to its members during health crises, offering financial assistance in medical emergencies. These welfare initiatives have fostered a strong sense of solidarity among members.


In his speech, President Subhash Thakur expressed appreciation for former members and senior journalists who were instrumental in establishing the Press Club and nurturing it during its early years. He reiterated that the club's successes are a result of collective efforts and reaffirmed the commitment to further enhance the organization.


The celebration was attended by Senior Vice President Roop Lal Kaundal, Vice Presidents Vinod Rana and Saroj Thakur, Chief Advisor Rajneesh Himalayan, Advisor Sonia Sharma, Secretary Surender Sharma, Press Secretary Rakesh Sharma, along with many senior and junior members. Notable attendees included Jai Kumar Bhardwaj, Deependra Manta, Asha Thakur, Shivani, Yugal, Latesh Sharma, and Gaurav Verma, among others.


The Silver Jubilee celebration not only highlighted a significant milestone in the Press Club Mandi's journey but also reflected its ongoing commitment to journalistic excellence, institutional growth, and meaningful societal engagement.
