Tribute to Tribal Heroes

On Monday, President Droupadi Murmu paid homage to tribal warriors on the occasion of 'Hool Day' (Revolt Day), emphasizing that their legendary battles against injustice serve as an endless source of inspiration for the nation.


Hool Day commemorates the anniversary of the Santhal Rebellion against British rule, which took place in 1855-56.


The rebellion was led by two brothers, Sido and Kanhu Murmu, in the Jharkhand region. In a post on 'X', President Murmu stated, 'On Hool Day, I pay my respects to Sido-Kanhu, Chand-Bhairav, Phulo-Jhano, and all the brave warriors of the Santhal Rebellion. Their indomitable courage and the immortal tales of their struggle against injustice are a perpetual source of inspiration for our citizens. The sacrifices they made will always be remembered.'
