On Saturday, President Droupadi Murmu paid homage to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Kargil War of 1999. She emphasized that Victory Day symbolizes the extraordinary bravery and determination of the nation's armed forces.

Murmu expressed that the dedication and ultimate sacrifice of these soldiers will continue to inspire the citizens of the country. In a post on the social media platform 'X', she stated, 'On the occasion of Kargil Victory Day, I pay tribute to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives for the motherland. This day represents the exceptional valor, courage, and resolve of our troops. Their commitment and supreme sacrifice will always motivate the people of our nation. Jai Hind! Jai Bharat!'

Kargil Victory Day is commemorated annually on July 26. It marks the day in 1999 when the Indian Army announced the success of 'Operation Vijay', following a three-month-long conflict against Pakistani infiltrators in Kargil, Ladakh.
