President Murmu Applauds Indian Athletes for Asian Games Success

President Congratulates Medal Winners

On Wednesday, President Droupadi Murmu expressed her congratulations to Indian athletes for their impressive medal wins on Day 11 of the Asian Games taking place in Japan.

She specifically commended wrestler Sunil Kumar for securing a bronze medal in the men's 87kg Greco-Roman category. President Murmu noted that his success would motivate him to achieve even greater accomplishments and bring further honor to the country. In her message on X, she stated, "Warm congratulations to Sunil Kumar on winning the Bronze Medal in the Men’s 87kg Greco-Roman Wrestling event at the Asian Games 2026. The President also recognized boxer Kapil Pokhariya for winning a bronze medal in the men's 90kg category. She wished him ongoing success in reaching new milestones, stating, "I congratulate Kapil Pokhariya on winning the Bronze Medal in the Men’s 90kg Boxing event at the Asian Games 2026. May you continue to achieve many more milestones."

In addition, President Murmu celebrated the achievements of Sahil Rajesh Jadhav, Ganesh Maniratnam Thirumuru, and Kushal Dalal, who won gold in the men's compound team event. She praised the Indian archery team's clean sweep of gold medals across all three compound team events, highlighting their precision, consistency, and teamwork.
