Inspiring Future Generations at Kumaun University

Nainital, Nov 4: During a recent address, President Droupadi Murmu emphasized the importance of economic progress and urged students to actively participate in nation-building efforts. She encouraged them to leverage their education to foster a more equitable society.

Speaking at the 20th convocation of Kumaun University, the President remarked, "While this ceremony marks the end of formal education, it is crucial for students to maintain a lifelong passion for learning."

She highlighted that education should inspire students to serve their country and community with humility.

President Murmu asserted that education is vital for national development, advocating for a system that not only imparts skills and ethical values but also fortifies students' character.

On the previous day, she attended a ceremony celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Raj Bhavan in Nainital.

In her speech, she noted that just as the Rashtrapati Bhavan represents the Republic of India, Raj Bhavans symbolize the democratic framework within the states.

Following the establishment of Uttarakhand, this building has become integral to the state's development, she stated.

The President explained that in a parliamentary system, the Governor serves as the constitutional leader of the state's governance.

The powers and responsibilities of the Governor were carefully defined by the Constitution's framers. The Raj Bhavans are held in high regard by the state's populace, and thus, all members of the Governor's team should exemplify simplicity, humility, morality, and sensitivity.

She commended Uttarakhand's ongoing development and expressed her belief that Governor Lt. General Gurmit Singh (Retd) and his team will continue to inspire the state's residents, ensuring further progress.

Additionally, President Murmu addressed the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly in Dehradun, marking the Silver Jubilee of the state's formation, urging it to advance while safeguarding the environment.
