Review Meeting for Shri Manimahesh Yatra 2026

A comprehensive review meeting aimed at ensuring the successful and safe execution of the Shri Manimahesh Yatra 2026 took place at the National Science Centre in Chamba, presided over by Sandeep Kumar, the Commissioner of the Kangra Division.



During this meeting, the preparations made by various departments were meticulously evaluated, and essential directives were issued. The Commissioner highlighted the significance of the Shri Manimahesh Yatra, which is one of the most important religious pilgrimages in Himachal Pradesh, drawing thousands of devotees from both India and abroad. He urged all departments to finalize their arrangements promptly to ensure a secure and seamless experience for the pilgrims.



Key points discussed during the meeting included:



  • Mandatory Registration: This year, all pilgrims must register for the Yatra, with details about registration fees to be announced later.

  • Accommodation & Facilities: Sufficient lodging arrangements at the historic Chaugan ground were mandated, along with the provision of temporary toilets, bathing facilities, lighting, electricity, rest areas, and clean drinking water.

  • Security & Crowd Management: The police were instructed to enhance traffic control, manage parking, regulate crowds, and ensure overall security. Only authorized and trained guides will accompany pilgrims on the Parikrama path.

  • Health Services: The Chief Medical Officer was tasked with ensuring that medical teams, ambulances, medicines, first-aid centers, and emergency services are adequately prepared along the route.

  • Infrastructure & Safety: The Public Works and Forest Departments were directed to repair roads, reconstruct damaged culverts, monitor landslide-prone areas, and secure pedestrian pathways.

  • Cleanliness & Environment: Departments were instructed to implement effective waste management and environmental protection strategies.



Mukesh Repaswal, the Deputy Commissioner of Chamba, shared insights from the previous year's Yatra and outlined the preparations for this year, ensuring coordinated efforts among all departments. The meeting was conducted by Additional District Magistrate Bharmour, Vikas Sharma, who presented the current status and the forthcoming action plan.



Attendees included Additional SP Dinesh Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Manmohan Singh, Divisional Forest Officer Navnath Mane, DSP Baldev Dutt, Chief Medical Officer Jalam Bhardwaj, District Development Officer Tavinder Chinouria, District Revenue Officer Vikramjit Singh, Executive Engineers Jogendra Sharma and B.C. Thakur, along with other officials.
