Enhanced Security for the Upcoming Kanwar Yatra

In Muzaffarnagar district, Uttar Pradesh, preparations for the renowned Kanwar Yatra, scheduled from July 30 to August 11 this year, are in full swing. The administration is implementing modern technology and deploying additional security forces to ensure the event is peaceful and secure.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjay Kumar provided details about the security arrangements, stating that AI-based CCTV cameras will be installed along both urban and rural areas of the Delhi-Haridwar National Highway and the Ganga Canal route. Approximately 2,500 CCTV cameras will be set up throughout the district to alert police about any suspicious activities promptly. Additionally, drone cameras will be utilized for aerial surveillance.

Special preparations have been made to assist pilgrims along the Kanwar route and to handle emergencies. Officers from the police, health, electricity, and sanitation departments will be stationed at all police stations to ensure better coordination. Furthermore, the police will maintain strict surveillance to curb rumors spreading on social media, taking immediate action against misleading messages.

The SSP mentioned that a request for additional police forces has been made to the state government to ensure the safety of the Kanwar pilgrims. Moreover, it has been mandated that CCTV cameras be installed in all service camps along the route, including kitchen areas. All staff members working in these camps must possess identification cards issued by the administration.

Considering the rainy season, the administration has instructed to address waterlogging issues along the Kanwar routes promptly. Meanwhile, the district panchayat has taken responsibility for lighting and cleanliness along the 55-kilometer Ganga Canal route. Dr. Veerpal Nirwal, the district panchayat administrator, stated that temporary lighting will be provided through generators at night for the convenience of the pilgrims, ensuring cleanliness is maintained.
