A Historic Achievement in Golf

Indian golfer Pranavi Urs has described her victory at the Asian Games as an extraordinary moment, highlighting the exceptional skills of her teammates Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar. The Indian women's golf team had a remarkable outing at the Asian Games, with Pranavi making history as the first Indian woman to secure an individual gold medal at this prestigious continental event.

Impressive Performance

Pranavi completed her rounds with scores of 66, 63, 66, and 70, finishing at an impressive 15-under 265, clinching the gold by a narrow one-stroke lead. Her final round, which was an even-par 70, included three birdies but also a triple bogey.

Reflections on the Win

Pranavi's groundbreaking win also played a significant role in India's silver medal achievement in the women's team event, where she teamed up with Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar. The trio ended with a score of 14-under 546, trailing behind the gold medalists from China by eight strokes.

Expressing her feelings, Pranavi stated, "I always believed we would win, but to actually achieve it feels surreal. Aditi and Diksha are both incredible players. Aditi has been my role model throughout my life, and I have competed alongside Diksha in junior golf. Sharing this success with them is truly amazing."

Post-Asian Games Life

Following the Asian Games, Pranavi mentioned that her life has become quite busy, filled with more interviews and public engagements than she had anticipated. However, she views this newfound attention as a positive and fulfilling experience.

"Life after the Asian Games has certainly been hectic. I've had more interviews and engagements than I expected, which has been fantastic. It's been a busy time, but a wonderful experience," she remarked.

Additionally, Pranavi was honored with a cheque of Rs 1 crore from Anurag Singh Thakur, the former Union Sports Minister and current Member of Parliament, during the India Championship held at the Delhi Golf Club on Friday. This award recognized her remarkable achievement at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
