Pradyot Debbarma Offers Rs 10 Lakh Reward in Anjel Chakma Murder Case
Reward Announcement for Anjel Chakma's Murder Case
Agartala, Dec 29: Pradyot Debbarma, the leader of Tipra Motha, declared a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh for information leading to the capture of the main suspect in the murder of Anjel Chakma.
This announcement follows the Uttarakhand Police's earlier offer of Rs 25,000 for information that could help apprehend the primary suspect in the case.
Debbarma expressed his discontent with the low reward offered by the Uttarakhand government, questioning, "Is this the value placed on capturing the mastermind behind the murder of Anjel Chakma, an MBA student? I am offering Rs 10 lakh from my own funds for any information that leads to the arrest of the murderer. We deserve better than this," he stated in a video message.
Additionally, the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), led by the Tipra Motha Party, announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh for the family of the deceased.
TTAADC Chief Executive Member Purna Chandra Jamatia shared on social media that, following the recommendation of Bubagra Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, the council has decided to provide financial support of Rs 3 lakh to assist with Anjel Chakma's final rites.
Anjel Chakma, a 24-year-old MBA student from Nandannagar in West Tripura, was fatally attacked by a group of six individuals after he confronted them over a racial slur in Dehradun on December 9. He succumbed to his injuries on December 26.
On Sunday, Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha reported that his counterpart in Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, has assured him that all individuals involved in the murder will be apprehended.
Describing the incident as tragic, Saha noted that Dhami informed him that five suspects have already been arrested, while one remains at large.
