Potential Political Shift in Maharashtra: NCP and Congress Alliance on the Horizon?
Political Dynamics in Maharashtra
Could the people of Maharashtra witness a significant change in the state's political landscape within the ruling coalition? According to sources, this may become a reality if the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) decides to form an alliance with the Indian National Congress. Reports suggest that NCP leader Ajit Pawar is considering this move to secure his party's success in the Pune Municipal Corporation elections.
On Sunday night, Ajit Pawar reached out to Congress leader Satej Patil to discuss the possibility of a coalition for the upcoming municipal elections.

A Congress representative revealed that Ajit Pawar contacted Satej Patil to inquire about Congress's interest in collaborating with the NCP. Patil, who has taken charge of the Pune Municipal Corporation for the party, indicated that he would discuss the matter with party leadership before providing further updates. While the likelihood of the NCP abandoning the ruling coalition for an alliance with Congress seems slim, sources indicate that Pawar's initiative is a noteworthy development.
The Congress party is exercising caution regarding the Pune Municipal Corporation elections, deliberating on all potential advantages and disadvantages. Additionally, the party is being careful in its discussions with its Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) allies across the state. Sources further noted that Congress is not inclined to negotiate for fewer seats in the 165-member Pune Municipal Corporation council, believing it crucial to maintain a strong presence in the municipality, especially since the party has a sitting MP from Pune.
