VCK Backs Vijay's TVK for Tamil Nadu Government Formation

Chennai, May 9: The VCK has officially announced its unconditional support for Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to establish a government in Tamil Nadu. The actor-politician is anticipated to meet with Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar shortly.
TVK leader Adhav Arujuna confirmed to the media that the VCK's backing has resolved any doubts regarding the new administration.
VCK's legislative party leader, Vanni Arasu, has sent a letter to Governor Arlekar affirming their support for TVK.
Arjuna expressed gratitude towards the Congress, Left parties, and VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan MP for their assistance, stating confidence that Vijay will assume the role of Chief Minister.
According to VCK sources, the party will provide external support to Vijay as he attempts to form TVK's first government.
Following VCK's endorsement, another ally of the DMK, the IUML, also pledged support to TVK, contributing two MLAs to the coalition.
With the backing of these two smaller parties, TVK's total support has increased to 120 MLAs, surpassing the simple majority threshold of 118 in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly.
Armed with this support, Vijay attempted to visit Lok Bhavan to meet Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arelkar but had to turn back due to a lack of appointment.
Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, which secured 108 seats but initially fell short of a majority, had previously sought support from Congress, CPI, CPI (M), and VCK, all allies of the DMK, after winning its first Assembly election in Tamil Nadu on April 23.
Having won from two constituencies, Vijay must resign from one, reducing the party's strength to 107. The supporting MLAs include 5 from Congress and 2 each from CPI, CPI (M), and VCK, totaling 11.
