Madhu Goud Yaskhi Takes Charge as Chairperson of All India Professionals' Congress

Hyderabad, Sep 10: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has appointed Madhu Goud Yaskhi as the new Chairperson of the All India Professionals' Congress.
AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal announced this decision on Wednesday, stating that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has officially designated Yaskhi for this role.
The party expressed gratitude towards the outgoing chairperson, Praveen Chakravarty, for his contributions.
Madhu Goud Yaskhi, a significant figure in the Congress party from Telangana, brings with him extensive experience and is well-regarded for his close ties with the party leadership.
With a strong educational background, Yaskhi is recognized as a prominent leader representing Backward Castes and is appreciated for his civil and approachable nature.
A staunch advocate for a separate Telangana state, he first entered the Lok Sabha from Nizamabad in 2004, winning against Telugu Desam Party's Syed Yusuf Ali by over 137,000 votes.
He successfully retained his seat in 2009, defeating Telangana Rashtra Samithi's Bigala Ganesh Gupta by more than 60,000 votes.
Yaskhi also held the position of Deputy Chief Whip of the Congress Parliamentary Party.
However, he faced defeat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections against K. Kavitha, the daughter of former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who was representing the TRS.
In the 2019 elections, Yaskhi again contested but finished third, with BJP's Dharampuri Arvind winning the seat.
In 2023, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Campaign Committee for the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) and ran for the Telangana Assembly elections, but did not succeed.
Yaskhi was nominated from LB Nagar, a constituency in Hyderabad, but ended up in third place behind candidates from Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and BJP.
He was seen as a potential candidate for the position of State Congress Chief in 2024, especially after A. Revanth Reddy, the then TPCC President, became Chief Minister. However, Mahesh Kumar Goud was ultimately chosen for the role.
