Political Turmoil in Uttar Pradesh: Deputy CM Claims Saffron Wave Among SP Leaders

The political climate in Uttar Pradesh is intensifying as Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya claims that a significant number of Samajwadi Party leaders are contemplating a shift in allegiance. This assertion comes amidst ongoing political turmoil in Maharashtra and West Bengal. With the 2027 Assembly elections on the horizon, Maurya believes internal conflicts will lead to a natural exodus from the SP. The Samajwadi Party has vehemently denied these claims, with its leaders countering the BJP's narrative. As the situation unfolds, the dynamics of Uttar Pradesh politics remain uncertain and intriguing.

Political Dynamics in Uttar Pradesh Heat Up

As political upheaval unfolds in Maharashtra with Shiv Sena and in West Bengal with TMC, the political landscape in Uttar Pradesh is also witnessing significant changes. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has made a startling assertion that around 25 to 26 members of the Samajwadi Party are poised to switch allegiances and potentially split from their party. This statement comes at a time when BJP leaders are suggesting that after the rifts in Mamata Banerjee's and Uddhav Thackeray's parties, it is now the turn of Akhilesh Yadav's party.

Maurya clarified that the BJP is not actively trying to dismantle the SP at this moment. He believes that by the time the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections arrive, these leaders will leave the party due to internal disagreements. Previously, state minister Om Prakash Rajbhar had hinted on social media about an impending split within the Samajwadi Party. Ram Gopal Yadav has also sent a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, referencing the mining and Gomti River Front scams, asserting that the entire state is aware of the mastermind behind these issues, and out of fear of legal repercussions, the entire SP is ready to join the BJP.

During this discussion, UP minister Manoj Pandey remarked that no one wishes to associate with the SP, which has alienated the public during its time in power. The Samajwadi Party has strongly reacted to these claims from the BJP. The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and SP MLA Mata Prasad Pandey countered in Lucknow, stating, 'Om Prakash Rajbhar himself is a major scandal.' Meanwhile, SP leader Ravidas Mehrotra labeled Rajbhar as two-faced, asserting that such statements are merely attempts to save his ministerial position. He confidently stated that under Akhilesh Yadav's leadership, the SP will form the government in 2027, and no SP leader will join the BJP.
