Reports suggest that around 40 legislators have rallied behind C.V. Shanmugam, urging the assembly speaker to recognize SP Velumani as the leader of the legislative party. In contrast, it is believed that only 17 legislators remain loyal to the EPS faction.
This situation has further complicated the internal dynamics of AIADMK. C.V. Shanmugam has made serious allegations, claiming that senior party leaders were in contact with the DMK to facilitate EPS's rise to the chief minister position.
The Shanmugam faction asserts that as soon as this information reached the party legislators, many began to protest, gradually escalating into a rebellion.
