Political Turmoil in Rajasthan Following Vasundhara Raje's Controversial Remarks
Vasundhara Raje's Statement Sparks Political Debate
A recent comment made by former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje, has stirred significant political activity in the state. During a public gathering at the Manohar police station, her choice of words has ignited a verbal clash between opposing parties.
What Did Vasundhara Raje Say?
While addressing the concerns of the public during her outreach campaign, Raje stated, 'Please continue to keep your love and trust. Minor issues are always present. Some are unable to build their homes, while others have not received compensation... I too have faced such challenges; I have not been able to do anything for myself. I have lost everything. I couldn't even save myself.' This statement quickly went viral, leading to discussions on social media about whether Raje was expressing sorrow over not being in the chief ministerial position.
Madan Rathore's Response with a Marwari Couplets
In response to Raje's comments, BJP state president Madan Rathore countered her claims in Bikaner, stating, 'All of Vasundhara Ji's work is being accomplished. How could she not save herself? A single person cannot always be the chief minister.' He further intensified the situation by reciting a Marwari couplet: 'Chitthi (chapati) choor-choor kare, maange daal aur ghee. Modi se kaun jhagda kare, chitthi khane naal.'
Rathore explained that this implies one should accept what is available, as no one can compete with Modi. Political analysts view this statement as a significant political message.
Support for Raje from Akhilesh and Gehlot
Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, during his visit to Jaipur, expressed support for Raje, stating, 'If Vasundhara Ji were the chief minister, perhaps better work would have been done.' Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also agreed with this sentiment, further fueling internal strife within the BJP.
Vasundhara Raje Clarifies Her Statement
As the controversy escalated, Vasundhara Raje issued a clarification. She asserted that her remarks were taken out of context. Raje explained, 'When the national highway passed in front of my house in Dholpur, I had to move my boundary wall back. Due to regulations, I couldn't even save my own home. I used this as an example to illustrate that if I couldn't save my own house, how could I save someone else's?' She concluded by stating that no position is greater than the love of the people, and that her statement was a deliberate misrepresentation by her opponents.
