Karnataka's Political Landscape Shifts
On Thursday, political uncertainty deepened in Karnataka as indications of a leadership change within the Congress government emerged. Reports suggest that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is not inclined to accept a Rajya Sabha seat and is expected to inform the high command about his decision today. Furthermore, it has been indicated that Siddaramaiah plans to remain an MLA for the next two years instead of venturing into Delhi's political arena.

According to sources, several of Siddaramaiah's associates are likely to receive significant portfolios in the government led by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. The new administration is anticipated to take the oath of office on Saturday, May 30. Earlier, during a meeting at his residence over refreshments, Siddaramaiah informed his cabinet colleagues about his decision to step down, as confirmed by official sources. Deputy Chief Minister and strong contender for the chief ministerial position, D.K. Shivakumar, along with other ministers, attended this meeting.
In a photograph released by the Chief Minister's Office, Siddaramaiah is seen embracing Shivakumar, while another image shows Shivakumar seeking blessings by touching Siddaramaiah's feet. Following indications from the party high command regarding a leadership change in the state, Siddaramaiah has requested an appointment with Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot. He also mentioned that he would make a statement on this matter on Thursday.

However, sources from Lok Bhavan indicated that Siddaramaiah has yet to request a meeting with the Governor. According to reports, the Governor is currently in his hometown of Indore for personal reasons. Amidst the political buzz regarding the new Chief Minister in the southern state, Congress's Karnataka in-charge General Secretary Randeep Surjewala clarified on Wednesday that the party has not convened any meeting of the legislative party and no other decisions have been made so far.
