Shimla: Political discord within the Congress-led administration in Himachal Pradesh has intensified, with opposition parties claiming that internal conflicts are significantly hindering governance and administrative efficiency in the region.

On Tuesday, Dr. Rajeev Bindal, the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former Assembly Speaker, stated that the government led by Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is grappling with an unprecedented internal crisis, leading to administrative stagnation and increasing public dissatisfaction.

Dr. Bindal remarked that the state is currently experiencing a pivotal moment where political instability and factional disputes within the ruling party have overshadowed essential governance and public welfare initiatives.

“The Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and cabinet members are preoccupied with public accusations, while the secretariat, which should serve as the governance hub, is rife with discord. This has resulted in confusion within the administration and has critically impaired decision-making,” he noted.

He further accused ministers of shifting blame onto bureaucrats, while officials are operating under political duress, leading to a demoralized administrative framework. “The government seems to be at odds with its own administrative apparatus, which is a troubling sign for any democratic institution,” he added.

Dr. Bindal emphasized that the repercussions of this internal political strife are being felt directly by the citizens of Himachal Pradesh. “Public safety has diminished, development initiatives have stalled, and residents are increasingly feeling vulnerable. The internal disputes of the government have overshadowed the public's needs,” he stated.

The BJP leader criticized the Congress government for its inability to deliver effective leadership and maintain administrative stability. He pointed out that the rise in drug abuse, halted development projects, and lack of accountability indicate a governance breakdown.

According to Dr. Bindal, when the government faces scrutiny regarding its performance, senior leaders often resort to mutual blame or shift the responsibility onto the BJP and the central government. “This pattern of evading accountability has become commonplace,” he remarked.

He asserted that the current administration has lost both moral authority and control over governance, urging for immediate corrective actions to restore stability and public trust in the system.

Dr. Bindal concluded by stating that the BJP will persist in addressing public concerns and holding the government accountable, both within the Assembly and beyond.
